Introduction to Electronic Music Production

Take a comprehensive dive into the world of electronic music production. This workshop introduces participants to the tools and techniques used by producers to craft rhythms, melodies, and full compositions. Using Ableton Live alongside open-source DAWs and free plugins, we’ll explore the essentials of electronic music creation—from synthesis and sampling to arrangement and performance.

Whether you’re new to music production or looking to expand your skills, this course offers an accessible and inspiring pathway into building your own tracks and soundscapes. No prior experience is required—just bring your curiosity and creativity.

Objective

This workshop serves as an introduction to electronic music production and sound design. Participants will learn the fundamentals of synthesis, sampling, MIDI sequencing, and arranging music in a DAW. The course emphasizes hands-on practice and provides a strong foundation for producing original electronic music.

1. The basics of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and how to set up your workflow

2.  MIDI sequencing and control for electronic instruments and effects

3.  Sampling and synthesis for creating unique sounds and textures

What You’ll Need

A laptop or computer with Ableton Live (trial version available) or an open-source DAW such as LMMS, Ardour, or Tracktion Waveform Free

Headphones (recommended for better sound detail)
